The South American Explorers is a non-profit organization supported almost entirely through the contributions of its members. The organization seeks to aid educational and scientific projects, to sponsor expeditions, to promote worthy community service organizations and activities, and to awaken greater interest in and appreciation of Latin America. |

Selva Sur (ACSS) |
Selva Sur has purchased more than 11,000 acres of intact Andean cloud forest on the amazing bird watching road adjacent to the Manu park. The creation of this private reserve has been funded by the Inca Group of companies of Arequipa, Peru, the World Parks Endowment, Friends of the Peruvian Rain Forest, the Weeden Foundation, and WCS. |

NGO based in Trujillo, always looking for volunteers for 3 - 5 weeks or longer. Projects include teaching street kids who are not attending school in a bid to bring them up to a suitable standard so that they can be re-integrated back into normal schools again. Other projects include centres to help abandoned mothers and pregnant adolescents. Volunteer positions available in Trujillo, Cajamarca, Huaraz and Cusco. |

The Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco (Cusco) |
CTTC is a non-profit organization established in 1996 to aid in the survival of Incan textile traditions and to provide support to weaving communities. Working with the Center, Quechua weavers and their families in the region of the former Incan capital are engaged in skills-building, community networking, and market development. By researching and documenting complex styles and techniques of Incan ancestors, the Center helps to ensure that 2,000-year-old textile traditions will not be lost for future generations. |

Aldea Yanapay (Cusco) |
Aldea Yanapay run an alternative school for children from the age of six to fourteen. Their aim is to alleviate the social injustices faced by the children of Cusco. Directed by Yuri Barrio De Mendoza, the school provides a haven of love, creativity, and learning for street kids, orphans and abused children. They also run a small restaurant in Calle Ruinas. |

Awamaki (Cusco) |
Awamaki is small NGO based in Ollantaytambo. They run a weaving project in the indigenous Quechua community of Patacancha, located in the mountains high above Ollantaytambo. Their aim is to empower young impoverished indigenous women to participate in a modernizing economy in a way that allows them to maintain their culture. The project supports 30 weavers from the indigenous community of Patacancha. |

Living Heart (Cusco) |
The NGO Living Heart was formed in August of 2007 with the goal to improve the lives of the Andean children and women within the communities of the Sacred Valley, near Cusco, Peru. The actions and programmes have been developed to combine educational strategies, conservation, nutritional and health advice, include family planning support, with the purpose of promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life for the Andean people. Current projects include; providing breakfasts, educational activities and supplies for schools, organizing art and theatre classes for children, providing seeds and plants so schools can create scholastic organic gardens, and organizing doctor visits to communities. |
